Founded 2010

Founded in 2010, The Society of Affective Archives is an entity dedicated to artistic collaboration, the production of affective archives, and the conservation of peripheral knowledge. Rooted in research-creation in the visual arts, the Society explores the slippage between fact and fiction, documentary and dream, natural and the supernatural. Processes developed by the Society function as tools for the production of affective archives, that is archives that go beyond the facts and into the realm of the imaginary. In this sense, the Society is animated by the creation, the collection, and the safeguarding of that which lies on the cusp of disappearing and the margins of consciousness. Projects realized by The Society of Affective Archives include the production of artist books, the presentation of video installations, the realization of performative acts, and the assemblage of a permanent collection of artifacts and artworks.
